We had the most unforgettable personally guided motorscooter holiday with Mulia Manise Utama, exploring the stunning scenery of Bali on two wheels.

The experience was surreal and added so much richness to our trip, allowing us to traverse from the countryside dotted with rice paddies to the vibrant city and serene beaches. Our adventure was nothing short of extraordinary and Karin, our guide, made sure we always felt safe.

My husband, our teenage son, and I each had our own scooter, and Karin's itinerary ensured we saw some amazing scenery, ate fabulous food, and learned about the local culture.
Even when the weather didn’t cooperate, Karin was responsive and adapted our plans perfectly. Her deep connection to the community invited us to become part of it, giving us insights into Bali's culture that we could not have experienced otherwise.

The accommodation was beautiful, with our deck offering views of a forest-blanketed valley. We were serenaded by the sounds of chants from local temples, roosters calling, and children playing in the distance.

This holiday was not only relaxing but also expanded our horizons in so many ways.

We highly recommend Mulia Manise Utama. Karin will take excellent care of you and ensure your holiday is unforgettable. During our stay, we enjoyed activities like visiting hot springs in a jungle inhabited by native monkeys, touring the idyllic mountainside on scooters, water rafting, enjoying a massage at the beach, and trying luwak coffee during a fascinating tea/coffee tasting experience. We also explored the best local restaurants and cafes, met numerous locals, and gained a profound insight into village life in Bali.

A truly extraordinary experience

Sometimes the best things in life happen completely unexpectedly. I booked my stay at Muliamanise Utama quite spontaneously after a quick search on the internet. After a spiritual experience, I grabbed my heart and wanted to see something of the world, as I had never used my passport before, let alone left Europe.

After a short video conference with Karin and Edwin, my anticipation was all the greater because the chemistry was right from the start. They also helped me with my travel preparations straight away and gave me some useful tips.

the retreat began after a 2-day acclimatisation in Sanur in a great homestay. The actual main accommodation, the Sugita Wooden House Rental, left nothing to be desired. The beds were large and very comfortable, and the accommodation was very clean. What's more, the small veranda of the wooden hut offered a fantastic view of the garden and the jungle.

The hosts of the accommodation were very friendly and accommodating. The retreat itself was planned with great activities and still left enough freedom and flexibility for your own wishes. My personal highlights included the visit to the hot springs, the purification ceremony in the water temple and the visit to Virgin Beach.

But besides all the activities, it was a very special experience for me to meet all these great people who made this trip so special. From Edwin and Karin, who really helped me to find myself and see my life from a different and more positive perspective, to Flim, Tonn and Gitta who enriched my trip with their stories and their presence, to Wayan and Komang who introduced me to the cultural and culinary side of Bali. I never felt like a tourist the whole time, but part of a family. Thank you for that!

I can't really do this trip justice with these few lines. It changed my life and I'm really looking forward to coming back and meeting the people and Bali again.

"A life changing experience"

(with the right balance between spiritual and fun).

While desperately needing a break from day-to-day life, and as a first-time solo traveler, I was looking for a yoga & meditation retreat that would allow me to unwind but maintain balance between the spiritual versus fun side of things.

The retreat met and exceeded all my expectations. I had an instant connection with the team of Mulia Manise Utama. I felt comfortable and was allowed to be my (purest) self. The variation between cultural trips (cooking class, jewelry making and, on my own request, speeding over the island on our motorbikes) versus the spiritual activities (early yoga & mediation, visiting local / undiscovered temples, attending the rituals and prayers) was so much fun, energizing, rough at times but all within a safe space & surrounding.

Not only was the retreat and its schedule adjusted daily to my own needs & wishes (and that of the other attendants), overall it felt so personal. There was room for time off or additional time together with the now so-called Bali Family. They all helped a lot in the struggles I took with me to Bali but also allowed me to just unwind and have a beer and “chill”.

The accommodations were breath taking; away from the “mainstream must-visits” from Bali, away from crowded cities and back to nature, mountains, waterfalls and rice fields. I loved the Glamping tents, but I was also offered a luxury villa (Bahari’s) for an extra night including a swimming pool. This helped to slowly “get adjusted” to daily life. Staff at all places were extremely friendly & helpful and made sure everything was to my liking.

I have no improvements on this beautiful retreat I had. I do advise those who are considering booking this retreat to be open for the experience and really determine what you’d like to get out of it. This will help you and the team of Mulia Manise Utama will make the best out of your experience!

And there I went, backpacking for the first time! 4 weeks to Bali. Quite exciting, what will be happening in the coming weeks, who will I meet and what kind of adventures will I have. All these questions went through my head beforehand.

Fortunately, a friend of mine, David Kalalo, had given me the contact details of Mulia Manise Utama, So I contacted Wayan Darma and joined his Culture, Yoga and Meditation retreat for the first 6 days, together with Jeannette from France. I enjoyed every day together with Jeannette and Wayan Darma, the founder, private guide and private driver. After this marvelous start, I was able to start my Bali single traveler backpacking experience, with a Yamaha N-Max motor scooter.

Wayan Darma picked me up on arrival and that immediately felt familiar. We stopped at a typical local restaurant, which was already a great experience after traveling for 25 hours. I was welcomed in the beautiful Bahari Villas, surrounded by rice fields in Carangsari.

It felt just like a dream. I immediately left all my expectations and it felt so good and familiar after the first day. Everything was perfectly arranged until the last detail. Yoga & meditation in the morning, breakfast, then an activity together with Wayan as our guardian angel.

Every day I could choose from different means of transport: A bright green Vintage open VW, a motor scooter or the luxury car. They arrange everything according to your wishes and nothing was too crazy!! They know all the beautiful local spots, and this allows you to really experience what the real Balinese culture is. For me, my Bali experience could not have started better. Thank you so much for all the beautiful memories and see you soon!! Because I already fell in love with Bali.
